Sept 1992
Congress passes the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992, and in October overrides presidential veto to secure its enactment into law. The cable law includes a new section to promote cable service compatibility with TV and VCR functions and other consumer equipment.

Oct 1992 Congress passes landmark Audio Home Recording Act. President Bush signs the bill into law.
